Painting Process: "North Shore Surf Day"

  Have you ever spent the day on one of Hawaii's beautiful beaches? If so, then you know exactly how it feels to enjoy the warm, tropical sun, cool trade winds, and brilliant blue waters. Near the ocean is my favorite place to be, and to me it's even better if I am surfing. In my acrylic on canvas commission, "North Shore Surf Day," I wanted to capture the feeling of spending time relaxing and playing at the beach on a bright, sunny Hawaiian day.  This large 20"x60" commissioned piece was based off of another original I painted called "North Shore." It's another beautiful winter day in Hawaii! As I write this, I can't help but smile knowing that it is February and outside the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and a refreshing tropical breeze is blowing.
