Colleen Wilcox Gallery Japan

It has been a long time since I’ve updated this blog, so it is way overdue that I share some of the exciting events and happenings related to my artwork in Japan.  Although a few stores had already been carrying my artwork in Japan for several years, I had yet to actually visit the country myself. I finally made my first visit (nearly one year ago now) and have since gone two more times. The most exciting part of my trips so far has definitely been the opening of the Colleen Wilcox Gallery in Yokohama which launched in September of 2017.

When I first arrived at the gallery I was really pleased with how my partners in Japan had designed the gallery to reflect my “beachy” taste and Hawaii lifestyle. We had a wonderful grand opening event during which I did interviews, signed prints and took pictures with the amazing people that came out to support.

During my next visit (which was recent, in April 2018), the gallery looked better than ever. I enjoyed doing another event and meeting all of the staff who work so hard to bring this vision to life. I am so grateful towards them for sharing my perspective of Hawaii with the country of Japan through my artwork. I like to imagine that vis it IG the gallery gives people a little taste of the islands, and a welcome break from the cold during the Japanese winter.

When you visit the gallery you will first notice the main wall that brightly displays many of my published art images that are available in limited edition giclees on canvas as well as aluminum prints. Nearby and throughout the gallery there are smaller matted paper prints and beachy wood frames to go with them. If available, you may also see some original hand painted surfboards and acrylic on canvas paintings.

In addition, there are a variety of accessory items that have been created uniquely for the Japanese market; such as beach bags, purses, pouches, iPhone cases, passport holders, Tshirts and more.

I feel appreciative to have this lovely brick and mortar space to share my artwork and products with the people of Japan. If you are in the Yokohama area, please stop in and check it out! It is located in the Colette Mare Minatomirai shopping center on floor 1F. Here is the address:〒231-0062 Kanagawa-ken, Yokohama-shi, Naka-ku, Sakuragichō. Or you can also find my art products in a variety of boutiques and surf shops around the country. Japanese speakers may visit Colleenwilcoxart.jp for more details.

Thanks for checking out my blog, and I promise to be better at updating it in the future :)

Aloha,

Colleen
